so worth it.

So much fun dialogue and love the characters that I met!

(+2)

The art is great.
The writing is very cheesy but given that's what its aiming for it is fine. There is only one real puzzle in the game but it was fun.

Wonderful Game! Thanks for contributing way back in 2020 to the bundle for racial justice (and also the Bundle for Ukraine too).

I posted my full review to my website: https://knavegaming.com/clam-man-review/

is the first song on youtube? i loved it

(+1)

This is the best game ever! I played it on stream and  next stream I was playing open mic! I can't wait for Headliner!
As I was playing I was wondering how I hadn't heard of this game, more people need to know about it, its so good.

(+3)

I absolutely love the sense of humor in this one. Sure, there are point and click puzzles, sure there is the intrigue, the crime, the mystery. BUT THE HUMOR THOUGH. All these flavourful, juicy comments, comebacks, the song (truly, masterpiece), the absurd... The way mafia behaves and talks, the whole idea for the scheme is just brilliant. How often do you play a game about mayonnaise theft? I'm waiting to see more games with this tone in the future.
For anyone wondering, the game can take about 2-3 hours to finish https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL1fUXypjrEM04A7LcdUOs1Pl59MQAwain

Only got an hour in but I had a great time with it so far. Great sense of humor with the characters and dialogue. Somethings up with Bosman, I must know why Clammy was really laid off :o
(+1)

Honestly more of a visual novel than a point and click game as there's very little puzzling and most of the game is just talking to people, but it's a very entertaining game.

(+1)

This is a hilarious game, thanks for supporting Ukraine! Looking forward to the next project.

(+1)

called my grandma, thx for the reminder

The game was exactly what I was hoping for. I'll happily buy the sequel at full price. Thanks for the laughs, Marafrass-- and thanks for supporting Ukraine.

Fun as hell, I've wanted to play it for a while, I was lucky it was in the Ukraine bundle! It's like if Sam and Max had an indie kid with Detective Grimoire but also with way more fish and they then got a divorce. If that makes sense.Smiche 🥶🐟 : r/smiche

Had a blast streaming this a while back! I'm curious if there's a standalone recording of the song at the end of the prologue?

(+3)

This was seriously one of the funniest adventure games I've played in a long time. Great characters, great setting, hilarious jokes and even a sick backflip. Couldn't ask for more, so very happy there's a sequel coming so I don't have to, because I'm very awkward. <3

This needs to be ported to everything 2 weeks ago

!!!!!!! awesome!!! thank you for telling me, i'm downloading it right now!!!

I absolutely love this game, I think everyone should play it, just a solid 10/10!

This game is visually unique with hand-painted backgrounds and foregrounds.  It is a side scrolling point-and-click adventure.  The humor in this game is fantastic.  As a matter fact, the game designers said that they want to make a game that was more jokes than puzzles if you are a fan of Monty Python and Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy than this game is for you.    For example, with clam man’s theme song explains that he lost his job takes the subway two buses to get home.  The next day one of his friends says sorry you lost your job. Clam man asks how you know, and his friend replies I heard the theme song.  There is also a store that is called ropes and knots.  In a punk style song as you enter the store so that you know what kind of a store you are in.  There is no voice acting in this game when characters speak, they sound like the adults in the peanuts specials which now, thanks to corporate America.  You can only see peanuts on Apple TV.

Can't get out of my apartment, after talking to the turtle girl. I think I've clicked on everything, including the weird movie screen that comes down. I quit the game and relaunched it, and now I am back on the couch with the door knocking.....

(+1)

That's odd - did the telephone not ring? That should be the next event! Reloading the game should fix the bug - after the conversation with Nat, try clicking the phone on the right of the couch!

(+1)

No the phone did not ring. Thanks for the tip, I will see if I can click on it after I redo the scene.

(+1)

Ok this time the phone rang and I was able to go out the door, thank you.

(+1)

Glad to hear it! Havent had that bug reported before, Ill look into it!

I experienced the same bug as well, although reloading did fix it

(+2)

I had so much fun playing this! I immediately played the demo for the upcoming sequel. I can't wait to hone my skills!

So glad you enjoyed it! (Personally, I think the sequel is shaping up to be way better!)

I've already played through it twice just so I could find alternative paths (did), and you are so right. I love the dialogue system, and how I was laughing one minute, and feeling weird and sad another (mailbox). This is just the preview, too... Can't wait! Great job!!!

Edit: I feel bad because I got this essentially free with the Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality, and the Clam Man 2 Open Mic was free. So, you've got a day-one purchase of the sequel from me, guaranteed.

I love stand-up and adventure games, and you gone and put them together! Genius! I'm a fan.

That's fantastic! Thanks so much for your kind words!!

To be honest I didn't know what I was walking into when I booted up Clam Man for the first time. Was he a fishy superhero fighting for justice in an unfair world? Was he a man slowly turning into a clam after an unfortunate accident involving a teleporter and an unfinished chowder? Or was he an actual clam living in an underwater world making ends meet as a junior sales representative in a mayonnaise company?

I'll let you guess.

Needless to say, this is a point and click adventure game with various nods to other classics of the genre, plenty of pop culture references and absolutely crammed to the brim with puns and amazingly hilarious characters. The point and click aspect is minimal, but what there is definitely provides some brain flexing, and there's one particularly fiendish puzzle to be solved (if you want it to be fiendish that is, which I did because my brain is the biggest brain).

If you love a nice wacky adventure game which revolves more around fun dialogue and plot then this is the game for you! Time to get clammy! Wait... that didn't sound right.

(+2)

Point & Click adventure game that is less about inventory items and more about the story and weirdness in everything around you. I really adore these adventure games that try hide a lot of content and references in every nook and cranny that you dont really need to interact with. There is a lot of heart in this small story if you have the patience to explore the life of this everyday clam and the case of the missing job. 3,5/5

Hi! I'm really enjoying Clam Man so far. Interessting story, charming characters, top notch protagonist and actually some good jokes. Good job!

But I'm stuck. In the backroom office at the club. I've read and clicked all there is, but there is no clickable prompt to leave the office / exit the screen. Clicking on the door does nothing. Did i miss something?

(+1)

Glad to hear you're enjoying the game!

To exit the backroom, you have to interact with everything in there. That's four cabinets,a desk, and a piece of paper. (if I recall correctly) When you've interacted with everything, Clam Man should walk to a corner of the room and trigger a dialogue. Have you tried exiting and reloading the scene? Or maybe there's a tiny object you missed? Hopefully this solves your issue, let me know if it doesn't!

Hey, thanks a lot for the quick response. You were right, I did indeed miss something. Shame on me. ;) I could've sworn I clicked everywhere.  My guess is, it was the single glass of mayo at the door, which I forgot. Anyways, it worked, thanks again for the help, very much appreciated. And off to see what the shell he's is up to now... ahm, sorry...

Not at all, just glad it wasn't a bug! :) Hope you enjoy the rest of the game!

Hello! Clam Man looks very fun! Unfortunately for some reason once Pete enters my office no matter how many times I engage in dialogue with him he simply...does not leave? I have gone through all three of the dialogue options and nothing changes. I'm assuming this is a bug but I will be Very Embarrassed if this is simply...a puzzle. ^^;;

(+1)

Hi! This may be a dumb question, but is the fourth option hidden away on your screen? You can either scroll or click the arrows to see more dialogue options! Asking because a few others didnt realize or were running on machines without scroll wheels on their mice!

If not, can you send me a screenshot of the problem? And thanks for the kind words!

That was it, thank you so much! Clicking the arrows didn't do anything which was why it was confusing, but scrolling worked.

Thank you so much again for the fast reply! I can't wait to enjoy the rest of your game. <3

(+1)

No problem!! Glad there was an easy fix! :)

Yo I had the same problem too, clicking on the arrows does nothing. I had to read this to know to scroll.

other than that thank you clam team for this marvelously funny clam game ily

(+1)

Hilarious game! The writing is fun and the humor is on point :) I saw you guys were working on a sequel (which is great!). I'm kinda hoping for voice acting for the sequel, I think it would help make the game even more approachable. If not VA, then maybe consider giving each character a unique "talking sound" (for reference see: Undertale, Animal Crossing, Underhero).

That aside, keep up the great work and fantastic jokes! :)

(+3)

Thanks so much! The prologue to the sequel is actually out already, and you can play it here on itch! What's more, it also has partial voice acting! :)

(+2)

This game was fabulous, please make more.

(1 edit) (+1)

Thank you! Working on it! You can play the demo for the sequel right here on itch!

Really cool game, I enjoyed everything! the art style of it is so nice and I can't wait to play it :D

I don't know if you've heard of Game Development World Championship before (gdwc2019) but it's a competition for indie game developers where they can submit their games and it's free! It's great if you want some more visibility for the game and it only takes a couple of minutes to join :)

(1 edit)

Thanks for letting us know, that sounds really interesting! Definitely checking it out!

EDIT: aaaand enrolled!

(+1)

Yaaay how exciting! Good luck in the competition! :D

(+2)

This game is honestly hilarious and refreshing. I don't know why this game isn't as popular as it should be (deserving so). I also petition that if you were to cast Clam Man in a movie it should be played by Martin Freeman.
(+2)

if this game isn't amazin looking then my name aint guybrush threepwood. and so inspirational as an aspiring dev (and, truth be told, aspiring clam). aspiring, inspiring, perspiring... this game has it all. well, if there's no perspiring, i want my money back.

(+2)

I can confirm that there is at least one case of perspiration in Clam Man. Everyone's underwater though, so not sure if you'll notice.

(+5)

I feel like this was made by Swedish people

Hey guys, loving the artstyle, cute and quirky! Also you guys have a great sense of humour! I wish you all the best!
